John Dooley and Gary Glover have been recording and touring from UCLA to Seattle for over 10 years, as Hydropods. After a lengthy hiatus (a band spat occurred aboard the historic Seattle schooner, Zodiac), the two are now compelled to continue their creative journey by producing new material, and reworking to get the forgotten works (see "Ruth" and "Lost Chance Sessions" below) into the proverbial ether.

Based originally in Portland, Oregon, the duo uses spoken word and music that electronically "presents a certain historical irony by returning to poetry's pre-Gutenberg origins: words set to music and chanted around a campfire," said one reviewer.

While Hydropods' first album, "Racecourse Exit" is currently out of print, previously unreleased albums "Ruth" and "The Lost Chance Sessions" have been re-mastered and are now available for purchase through their Myspace (myspace.com/hydropods), or at www.hydropods.net. Miscellaneous Hydropods artifacts will also be posted there soon--the site is under construction.

Selections from earlier works can be heard at Snocap, and on internet radio and various podcasts such as the IndiFeed Performance Poetry Channel, Sundown Lounge, Coffee House to Go, Mystic Babylon, Shekky's Pirate Cat Radio, Homegrown Podcast (UK) and BZoO Radio (UK).

John Dooley: Dooley is an award winning poet and working freelance writer living in Eugene, Oregon. He is a semi-retired slam poet (Portland Slam Team 1996, 1997, 1998) who has recorded and toured with the spoken-word groups Prick, Hydropods, and DvS. He is a frequent contributor to literary journals, newspapers and magazines. His work has appeared in publications around the world on-line and in print.

Gary Glover: With over one million notes in thirty years of playing, Gary Glover provides Jazz Improv and Musical Dramatico to Dooley's spoken-word poetry and prose. He has worked for years as a guitar instructor, and as a professional studio musician and engineer. He is currently a music instructor at the School of Rock in Portland, Oregon.

Hydropods: Over the years, Hydropods has toured the West Coast on and off, playing bars, poetry slams, benefits, colleges, and once had a regular weekly gig at a lesbian titty bar. The brand spanking new Hydropods album, "VULTURE and Other Stories" is available now.
